Tractor Drivers Needed

Recently, your 2018-2019 Buckhorn Band Booster Association Board voted to approve the purchase of a “semi-tractor” for our 50 foot “semi-trailer”.  This is a big deal and very exciting but we have to confirm drivers as our past dedicated driver is out-of-commission and we need a driving team anyway, if we’re going to be able to fully utilize it.  A suitable and affordable single-axle day cab tractor has already been found and tested, our offer has been made, and the Fitzgerald Peterbilt company is holding the tractor for us.  Plans are in place to procure the tractor between now and August.  Specifics on this process and how it is being budgeted and financed will be shared with full budget details at the first Booster Association meeting in August, but please trust that the board has made an informed and intelligent decision for the good of our program as a whole.

We need to solidify who is appropriately licensed, experienced, and available to drive the band tractor trailer as soon as possible.  We will need qualified volunteer drivers for all of our away game performances during marching band season and marching band competitions between August and early November; as well as our Indoor Percussion competitions between February and early AprilWe do not currently know all of the dates for competitions and potential football play-off travel.  However, Marching Band performances are mostly on Fridays and all competitions (both Marching Band and Indoor Percussion) are on Saturdays.  Details will be discussed within the driving team.

For now, if you are licensed and capable (or know someone who is) please (have them) email Band Booster Association President, Mr. Gordon King – [email protected] and CC me – [email protected]as soon as possiblePlease include qualifications (up-to-date Class A license & certification, semi tractor trailer driving experience, current employment, scheduling flexibility, etc.) – so we can put together a team with whom to work out all the details.

** A dedicated Equipment Team (we have shirts!) will be needed for loading/unloading & equipment movement/care.  Our students do a lot themselves but capable parents are needed with some training involved.  If you are new to the program, you will be amazed when you see our trailer and process! **

Thank you for your support!
