2019 Leadership Clinic
Attention members/parents of the BHSMB Leadership Council (student leaders chosen for this year):
You may remember the Leadership Essay prompt mentioned that the Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser leadership clinic we attend annually was going to be on the Wednesday of the first week of band camp. We have decided that instead of attending that clinic this year, we will have our own. As much as I absolutely love Dr. Tim’s clinic, everyone will save their $60 this year and the trip that would greatly disrupt camp momentum and instructional time. With the contribution of Drum Major Riley Foster’s experience from the George Parks Drum Major Academy, those who have been to Dr. Tim’s clinic before, and my own (+ Mrs. Souder’s) experience, we will have our own leadership clinic. It will be a group discussion type event in which we delve in to the tried and true principles and techniques that help shape us in to better servant leaders, specifically for our activity. If you have been to Dr. Tim’s clinic before, please bring your work book. I have a few extra copies. Otherwise, everyone needs to bring a large notepad and a pencil and come ready to actively participate!
Unless there are lots of conflicts, we will meet prior to the start of band camp, Saturday morning, July 13 from 8 – 11 in the band room. Please let me know right away if you absolutely cannot be there so I can decide if this won’t work. This 2-3 hour “clinic” is very important not only to learn a lot about leadership techniques but to establish expectations, culture, and protocol as members of our leadership council. Please do everything you can to be there.
Thank you for your willingness to serve in the challenging position of helping serve and lead your peers this season! I truly believe we can surpass previous standard-raising seasons if everyone is “all-in”.
