September 19 Announcements and Alerts

Madison County Night of Bands:

In case your student hasn’t filled you in on the details for tomorrow, students are staying after school tomorrow, Tuesday, September 20th for loading the trailer, eating their dinner, dressing in to uniforms, and departing on buses at 4:30 to head to New Hope High School for the Madison County Night of Bands festivities. (That’s a lot to do in an hour after school so we really need equipment crew help!)  The event itself begins at 6:30 and Buckhorn is scheduled to perform around the 7:45 time frame but the time for bands to set up and transition is not exact.  The event should end around 8:30.  At the conclusion, students will be required to ride the buses back to Buckhorn to dress back out of uniforms and unload the trailer.

ALL students need to BRING to school all uniform necessities – white shorts, plain white tee, tall white socks – and a good dinner!  Color Guard should have their list of needs and percussionists need to be sure NOT to forget their wrist bands.

We hope to see a lot of Buckhorn support for all Madison County bands tomorrow night in New Hope!

Fall 2016 Marching Band

The Fall 2016 Marching Band competitions have been scheduled and partially decided.  We will be attending all new contests this year partly due to conflicts with desired destinations and also to let our students experience more competitive venues throughout the region.  I’m excited about these contest venues – the adjudicators and adjudication process appear very well-structured and I believe they will be great experiences for our students.

October 1st – Sand Mountain Inivtational (@ Boaz High w / UNA POD in exhibition)

October 15th – Hoover Invitational Marching Festival (Hoover Metropolitan Stadium w / UAB Marching Blazers in Exhibition)

October 29th – West Alabama Marching Invitational (Gordo, AL)

Schedules and details for these contests will be distributed during the week leading up to them, but we can expect call times for students to be in the morning with return times being late at night.  More to come later!
