Dr. Tim Leadership Clinic Details

This INFORMATION is for the students and parents of students who have previously signed up for the Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser Band Leadership Clinic @ Homewood High School near Birmingham, AL on Saturday, July 15.

If you are attending (students and adults): be sure to get a good full night of sleep (you’ll be tired from the 1st week of camp!) and eat a wholesome and filling breakfast BEFORE you arrive.  Students – bring a mechanical pencil for lots of golden-nugget-note-taking and please wear a Buckhorn blue t-shirt and comfortable TENNIS SHOES and shorts!  (You will receive a specialized workbook before it starts and leadership clinic t-shirt when it ends.)

  • We have 35 students attending (list at the bottom) for whom we will need adequate transportation by parents.  (Students are not allowed to drive themselves or be the carpool drivers.)  We should need approximately 6-9 parent vehicles to transport our students to the clinic.  Please email me with number of seats available, if you are willing to volunteer for this!  I will send a follow up email with official drivers once I have enough. Thank you!
  • We will meet at the Publix parking lot (on Winchester Road) right behind the McDonald’s NO LATER THAN 6:00 AM, have a quick role call and debriefing, disperse in to carpool vehicles, and depart.  We’ll take the easy route – 565W to 65S to Lakeshore Drive exit to Homewood HS.  I’ll be the lead driver.
  • Drivers: Please gas up before arrival so the carpool can stay together and arrive together.  The drive is approximately 2 hours depending on traffic situations so we need to leave by 6:15 AM so we can get to Homewood by 8:30 AM to get checked in for the clinic to start at 9:00 AM.
  • The clinic goes from 9 AM to 1 PMParents/chaperones have been invited to observe this year!  Parents, if you plan to observe (which I HIGHLY encourage – Dr. Tim is truly second to none!) please plan to bring a folding chair.
  • I am tentatively planning to have pizza ordered for us to eat immediately following the clinic, at Homewood HS before we depart for home.  Update about lunch plans later.
  • Students are “released” essentially when we depart for home from Homewood.  It will be up to the drivers to determine how drop-off works (at Publix – student calls for pick up while on ride home; or drop them off at home).

Please let me know if I’ve left anything out, if you have any questions/concerns, and if you (parent) can volunteer to carpool for our students and attend the clinic with us.  As always, thank you for your incredible support!

*Please be sure your $60 Leadership Clinic fee (already paid by the band) is made out to “BHS Band” with “Leadership Clinic” on the “for” line or cash in an envelope with the same notations.  Thank you!*
