Welcome back to school from what I hope was a great break. Yesterday was our first day back and as I told the students I am very anxious to get started on what I feel will be our best music program yet. As we prepare for this semester I wanted to post an article that I hope will get us started. New Students All new students should take some time and surf through this website. Most everything we do in the band program is explained here. The first thing you must do is fill out and return the following documents linked below.
As stated in the syllabus, all students are required to help fund the band program so we may attend festivals and assessments throughout the semester. The band receives no funding from the school system so the booster organization is responsible for paying for trips and instrument needs. The 2010 spring fee is $95 and we offer students multiple ways of earning money to pay for this fee. Please take time to read about the BOOSTER ORGANIZATION on our website. Also please notice each student should acquire a tux or dress that meets the band's specifications. You may read about these items by CLICKING HERE. Spring Schedule All dates for our performances and fundraisers are constantly updated on our band's calendar. This calendar is assessable through google calendars and it is embedded in this website HERE. As you can see we have a major fundraising event in March called the Family Fun Night and we need as much help to prepare for this event as possible. This year's scheduling for assessment has been changed by the ABA (Alabama Bandmasters Association) to include only one assessment instead of the past traditional District and State Assessment. The assessment is now called MPA (Music Performance Assessment) and it will take place for Buckhorn on the afternoon of March 26th. At this time our spring concert is scheduled for May 13th but this may change according to the availability of local auditoriums. EAA Breakfast We currently need three student workers for the EAA Breakfast Fundraiser. If you are interested in working at this event please contact Mr. Martin immediately.
