INDOOR PERCUSSION

Percussion Ensemble

A recent addition to the Buckhorn Bands, the percussion ensemble is comprised of percussion students enrolled in band the Spring semester.  It is a chamber music ensemble featuring musical works written specifically for percussion.  Literature is selected based on difficulty and enjoyment and is rehearsed with the ultimate goal of performance and betterment of musical ability.  This allows students to experience repertoire from world music to contemporary genres.  The percussion ensemble rehearses during band class and after school, and performs on the annual Spring concert.  All members of the percussion ensemble must be enrolled in symphonic band.

Indoor Drumlime

The Buckhorn High School Indoor Drumline is an extracurricular ensemble held during the Spring semester.  It consists of only the battery (drum line) and the front ensemble, much like the percussion used in marching band.  This ensemble combines percussion ensemble music with movement and elements of theater to create a competitive indoor percussion show performed on the WGI circuit, a globally recognized indoor color guard and percussion organization.  The indoor drumline rehearses outside of school hours.
